About This Project

These wonderful birds were persecuted to extinction here in the 19thcentury. A reintroduction scheme, bringing chicks from generous Norway, has seen them nest successfully here for the first time in well over a hundred years. They chose Lough Derg in County Clare to produce their first chicks. This bird was seen at Dromore lake the winter before this marvellous event.
